Locks on a Bridge

The tradition of love padlocks has long reached Cologne, and every time I go back, I find myself surprised by the amount added since my last visit. Here’s some impressions of the bridge.

 

What do you think of this custom? Know any similar ones? Me, I’m pretty amused and a little puzzled, but it makes for nice photo-material, so I’m not complaining.

Visiting Notre Dame inspired us to re-watch old Disney movies and thus resulted in a fun night. Who said churches are boring?

The Christmas markets in Paris were still up and running around New Year’s.

The most visited cemetery of the world

Père Lachaise in Paris is gorgeous. There’s quite a few famous people buried there (e.g. Oscar Wilde), but it was more fun to just stroll along and snap a few pictures than to actively seek out graves.

The Eiffel Tower is one of those “must-visit” places in Paris. I’m not too fond of it myself – mostly due to the crowds – and think that close-up, it doesn’t look all that great, but oh, from a distance it’s a whole other story.

 

Since I always end up in Paris with people who’ve never been before, every time a visit to the Eiffel tower is in order.

Sacre Coeur in Paris; full of tourists and we felt like sheep walking in line with everyone up the mountain, but is is beautiful.

 

Maastricht: Bookstore in a church

I love books and while I’m not exactly a church-goer, there’s one church in Maastricht (Netherlands) that I’m quite regularly drawn to. Guess why?

I love that they turned this church into a book store. It has lots of law books and a lovely café at the back which makes me love it, but really, it’s worth visiting just for the looks of it.

Hometown Glories

A few days back, I visited Cologne (Germany); words can't quite express how much I love that city, with all its faults, beauties, amazing people and mentality, so I'm not even going to try.
